Orthopedic support your dog can actually feel
True orthopedic comfort comes from depth. Many beds marketed as "orthopedic" rely on a top layer as little as 2cm — barely enough to stop a dog resting on the hard base beneath.
The CHESTNUT Sheepskin Boot Bed is built on a 10cm memory foam pillow, up to five times thicker, that cradles joints and pressure points and holds its support night after night. Above it sits 22mm of genuine Australian merino sheepskin — a second, softer layer no foam-only bed can match.
-
Deep orthopedic cushioningA 10cm memory foam core supports joints and pressure points — ideal for older dogs or any dog who needs extra comfort.
-
22mm genuine sheepskinA natural second layer of softness over the foam — comfort you can see and feel.
-
Naturally temperature-regulatingMerino wool keeps your dog cool in summer and warm in winter, helping regulate body heat year-round.
-
Naturally antimicrobial & odour-resistantThe lanolin in genuine sheepskin resists bacteria and odours, keeping the bed fresher between washes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know
Yes. Every Signature Range bed uses genuine Australian merino sheepskin for the sleep surface, inner walls, and pillow cover. The sheepskin carries an Australian Government veterinary export certificate (No. AU0008510729), issued under the Export Control Act by an authorised veterinary surgeon of the Australian Government. This certificate confirms the sheepskin originated from healthy, disease-free animals on Australian farms. The sheepskin is naturally temperature-regulating — cool in summer, warm in winter — and lanolin gives it natural antimicrobial and odour-resistant properties. Same provenance as UGG boots. Fully documented.
By design. The memory foam pillow is built for orthopedic support, not softness. A polyester-filled pillow would feel softer out of the box, but it wouldn't support your dog's joints or pressure points the way memory foam does. The pillow will soften and conform gradually during a short break-in period — give it a few days of use.
The sheepskin pillow cover is the sleep surface your dog lies on. It's removable via its YKK zip and can be hand-washed if needed — for example, after an unexpected accident. Cold water only (max 30°C) with an enzyme-free, lanolin-safe wool wash. Never bleach, never fabric softener. Gently press out the water — don't wring — and air dry in the shade. Brush gently with a wire pet brush while damp and again when fully dry.
That said, our recommended care method is spot cleaning with a clean, white damp cloth. Here's why: sheepskin is naturally lined with lanolin — the oil that keeps it soft, antibacterial, and self-cleaning. Every wash strips a small amount of that lanolin from the fibres. The factory finish also uses industrial brushing machines that produce a plushness that is very difficult to replicate at home after washing. Spot cleaning preserves both.
If an accident does soak through the sheepskin cover, the waterproof inner liner (also removable via YKK zip) sits beneath it and protects the memory foam pillow from moisture damage.
The outer sheepskin is built into the bed structure and is not removable — wipe clean only with a clean, white damp cloth. Full care instructions are printed on the sewn-in tag.
The waterproof inner liner sits between the sheepskin pillow cover and the memory foam pillow. It's your first line of defence — if an accident soaks through the sheepskin cover, the liner catches it and protects the memory foam from moisture damage. It's removable via its own YKK zip and is hand-washable in cold water (max 30°C) with a mild detergent. Don't scrub vigorously — gently wash, rinse, and air dry completely in the shade before reinserting the memory foam. The liner is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class I certified — the same safety standard applied to infant articles.
The Signature Range is made from several premium materials, each with its own care needs. Detailed instructions are printed on the sewn-in care tag — please don't remove it.
Removable sheepskin pillow cover: Unzips via YKK zip. Cold hand wash (max 30°C), enzyme-free wool wash only. No bleach or fabric softener. Press out water gently — don't wring. Air dry in the shade, then brush to restore the pile.
Outer sheepskin (built into the bed): Not removable. Wipe clean only with a damp white cloth. Do not soak or machine wash.
Memory foam pillow: Spot clean only with a damp white cloth. Do not submerge or machine wash. The waterproof liner protects it from accidents.
Waterproof inner liner: Unzips via YKK zip. Hand wash cold (max 30°C) with mild detergent. Air dry in the shade.
Suede exterior and rubber base: Wipe clean with a damp white cloth only.
General rule: always use a clean, white damp cloth for spot-cleaning to prevent dye transfer. Avoid all enzyme-based and bleach-containing detergents across every component. Never tumble dry any part of the bed.
Genuine sheepskin may shed lightly, especially in the first few weeks. This is a natural characteristic of real wool and settles with time. It's not a defect.
Some dogs settle in immediately; others need a few days. Dogs are creatures of habit, and a new bed — especially one that smells different from their old one — can take a short adjustment period. Place it where your dog usually rests and give them time. The natural warmth and softness of sheepskin usually wins them over.
Three things. First, the materials: genuine Australian merino sheepskin and deep orthopedic memory foam — up to 10cm in the flagship, roughly 5× thicker than typical "orthopedic" beds. Second, the construction: the structural shell is poured into CNC-machined steel molds in a genuine Australian UGG boot factory — by the same artisans, using the same materials — so it never sags or collapses like sewn fabric walls. Third, the certification: every individual material carries independent third-party safety certification — OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified suede and liner, SGS-tested foam across 11 Australian safety standards, and veterinary export certified sheepskin.
The memory foam is independently tested by SGS against 11 Australian and international chemical safety standards — including heavy metals, phthalates, formaldehyde, and REACH regulation requirements. The waterproof liner holds OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class I certification — the same standard required for infant articles. The suede outer cover holds OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification. The sheepskin carries an Australian Government veterinary export certificate. Every material is independently verified — not just claimed.
